Contact me for concerns or questions regarding this website itself, or if you want to contribute material or make suggestions for the website.  Please remember that I am a volunteer, and I do not have time to deal with individual research questions, unless they relate directly to the surnames where I have listed myself as an interested person and contact.  We urgently ask for Volunteers for "lookups" transcribing, working with spreadsheets, indexing, and numerous other projects.

Thank you for your interest in the Tri County Illinois area.

Unearths Human Bones

Fidelity Farmer While Digging Horse’s Grave Makes an Interesting Discovery

While digging a grave in which to bury a dead horse last week, Thomas Moran was surprised to find that there had been another grave what he supposed to be both human and animal bones, as well as an arrow’s head, which leads Mr. Moran to believe that an Indian warrior and his horse were buried there.

Owing to the watery condition of the grave, Mr. Moran did not make a thorough investigation at the time, but further examination may be made later to ascertain the exact nature of the find.

Kemper farmer, ascending a well, meets a tragic death.

Frank Watson, aged 34, a farmer living several miles west of Kemper, came to a sudden death Sunday morning from what was pronounced heart disease.  He toppled to the bottom of a well that he had been cleaning, about 20 feet.  His neck was broken by the fall.  He was cleaning a neighbor’s well.

Funeral was Monday at Hull House School with burial in Witt Cemetery.  He left a widow and three children.
